Armstrong International Wireless Steam Trap Monitor receives ISA100 Wireless certification

Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA (14 December) – The ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute announced today that Armstrong International has released a new Steam Trap Monitoring product that has successfully achieved ISA100 Wireless™ certification.

The Armstrong Intelligent Monitoring—AIM® ST6700 Wireless Steam Trap Monitor from Armstrong International—is a wireless monitoring technology that efficiently monitors and evaluates steam trap operation, identifying the conditions of a steam trap to determine significant problems that could put operations at risk.

The AIM® ST6700 can accurately detect issues, such as plugged and blow thru steam traps, that can result in failed equipment, loss of product, safety concerns and significant energy loss. Immediate failure notification from the AIM®ST6700 helps identify the exact failed steam trap, minimizing production losses and reducing energy consumption.

By using ISA100 Wireless, the AIM® ST6700 is able to leverage a wireless protocol expressly built for industrial settings; it’s robust, reliable and secure with the ability to scale to thousands of networked devices.

The ISA100 Wireless certification provides assurance that the devices will interoperate in any ISA100 Wireless compliant network. View the ISA100 Wireless certification here.

“Armstrong International has more than a century of thermal utility knowledge and experience. In fact, we’ve been at the forefront of automated steam trap monitoring for nearly 30 years. The introduction of this state-of-the-art technology, the AIM® ST6700, serves to fortify our position as a global leader in energy management,” said Justin Grubka, Global Product Manager of Armstrong Smart Products.

“ISA100 Wireless is purpose built for large-scale deployments typical of the Armstrong steam trap monitors,” remarked Andre Ristaino, Managing Director of ISA100 WCI. “We are pleased to welcome the Armstrong product in the ISA100 Wireless portfolio.

About ISA100 Wireless™
ISA100 Wireless (IEC 62734) is an international, industrial wireless networking and communications standard engineered to serve the needs of process industries. With native IPv6 networking and object architecture, ISA100 Wireless extends the Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) to wireless. End users can select ISA100 Wireless Compliant™ devices from a best-of-breed pool of suppliers with assurances of device interoperability. ISA100 Wireless enables automation engineers to quickly create, modify, optimize, and scale wireless networks that are open, interoperable, and reliable for their most critical applications. ISA100 Wireless is the first standard in the ISA100 family of open standards.

Built from the ground up and driven by user requirements, the ISA100 Wireless standard received formal ANSI approval in January 2012 and approval as IEC 62734 in September 2014. ISA100 Wireless is the only IPv6, 6LowPAN industrial protocol designed for industrial automation. ISA100 Wireless meets requirements of ETSI EN 300 328 v1.8.1 for coexistence with nearby 2.4 GHz radio devices.
