Crack Semiconductor Joins ISA100 Wireless™ Compliance Institute

Leader in Asymmetric Cryptography Solutions Supports ISA100 Wireless

Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA (21 Oct. 2013) –The ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute announced today that Crack Semiconductor, a Canadian-based leader in Public Key or Asymmetric Cryptography Solutions, has joined the ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute. Focused on security solutions, Crack Semiconductor opted to join ISA100 Wireless after their competitive security analysis recognized the standard’s superior foundational security capabilities.

Crack Semiconductor’s mission is to develop network security processors as specialized components of high-performance security systems. The Crack Zeppelin network security processing platform provides acceleration of the computer-intensive cryptography functions that encrypt and decrypt outgoing and incoming information and protect against intrusion by adversaries.

“Crack Zeppelin is an open standards-based network security processing platform that is completely reprogrammable in both hardware and software. Crack Zeppelin combines embedded, high- performance ARM processing with Crack Semiconductor's advanced cryptographic hardware accelerators on a single chip,” said Art Low, President and CTO, Crack Semiconductor. “We are excited to join the many other global ISA100 WCI members committed to ISA100 Wireless.”
“Security is one of the top user requirements for industrial wireless applications,” said Andre Ristaino, Managing Director, ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute. “The addition of Crack Semiconductor to ISA100 WCI is a valuable augmentation of security expertise in the ISA100 Wireless technical ecosystem and we look forward to their contribution and commitment.”

About ISA100 Wireless
ISA100 Wireless is an international, industrial wireless networking standard built to serve the needs of process industries. From its diverse product portfolio, users can select best-of-breed devices from a large pool of suppliers that the ISA100 Wireless Compliant™ program guarantees to be interoperable. With ISA100 Wireless, automation engineers can quickly create, modify, optimize, and scale wireless networks that are open, interoperable, and reliable for their most critical applications. ISA100 Wireless is the first standard in the ISA100 family of open standards.

The ISA100 Wireless standard received ISA committee approval in 2011 and formal ANSI approval in January 2012. Headed toward internationalization, ANSI/ISA-100.11a-2011, was accepted as new work in IEC SC65C and as a Publicly Available Specification (PAS), IEC 62734, in 2011.

About Crack Semiconductor
Founded in 2002, Crack Semiconductor specializes in the development of a network security processors based on highly tuned combinations of hardware and software that implements network-level communications applications based on public key or asymmetric cryptography solutions for customers in a broad range of industries including banking, payment, government, military and wireless sensor networks. Public key cryptography relies primarily on the RSA algorithms with 1024- and 2048-bit mathematics required, or on Elliptic Curve algorithms with key sizes up to 500+ bits. Development of applications based on these large numbers and complex algorithms are very difficult for general purpose processors to handle. The Crack Zeppelin is a network security processor platform that tightly couples embedded dual-core ARM processors with high performance custom cryptographic acceleration hardware and software to enable the rapid development of network security processing solutions application to meet specified performance levels. More information
on these products and technologies are available on Crack Semiconductor's new Crack Zeppelin web site at www.crackzeppelin.com.

About the ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute
The ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute (ISA100 WCI) is a non-profit industry organization that provides users and developers with market awareness, educational information, technical support, and compliance testing for the ISA100 family of standards. Additionally ISA100 WCI provides real-world feedback from the deployment of ISA100 Wireless devices and systems to ISA Standards Committees, fostering rapid refinement to the standards.
