ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute and ITEI Host ISA100 Wireless Technology Seminar in Beijing, China

Research Triangle Park, NC (23 June 2011) – The ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute (WCI) held its second China technology seminar in Beijing today, closely following the May 2011 seminar in Chongqing, China. In a live technology demonstration, WCI member companies showcased the benefits of multi-vendor product interoperability using ISA100.11a industrial control products from select suppliers including Honeywell, Yokogawa, Yamatake, and General Electric. Working with the Instrumentation Technology & Economy Institute of the People's Republic of China (ITEI), WCI hosted more than 120 professionals, manufacturers and scientists from around China interested in learning more about the ISA100.11a- 2011 standard, which received approval from the ISA Standards and Practices Board 4 May 2011.

“From day one we have emphasized the value of global adoption of the ISA100 standard. We are thrilled to host this event in Beijing, where the response has been just amazing,” said Andre Ristaino, managing director of ISA100 WCI. “The timing couldn’t be better for this event, which comes on the heels of the recent ISA meeting held in Chongqing, China. There we engaged members of both academia and industry, providing a basic introduction to the ISA100.11a standard, the system architecture and beneficial characteristics inherent in the standard.” “Since ITEI is responsible for the adoption of Chinese national and industrial standards in the area of instrumentation and automation, we have looked forward to hosting this event with WCI to help promote the ISA100 benefits of interoperability, sustainability, flexibility and ease-of-use to the Chinese community,” said Jinsong Ouyang, president of ITEI.

About the ISA100 Standard
The ISA100.11a industrial wireless networking standard is the first in the ISA100 open family of standards. This wireless mesh network protocol standard ensures that supplier companies will build interoperable wireless automation control products and provides users the freedom to choose best-of-breed ISA100.11a field devices from any supplier. As a result, automation engineers are able to create, modify, optimize and scale wireless networks quickly at user sites. With ISA100, customers will have a solution that is open, interoperable, scalable and reliable for their most critical applications. The ISA100.11a wireless standard is simple to deploy, reliable and supports traditional and future applications.

Last month the ISA Standards and Practices Board, which governs the ISA100 committee, overwhelmingly approved the ISA100.11a-2011 industrial wireless communications standard. ISA100.11a had undergone a revision this past year to address comments received in order to reach a super-majority consensus that characterizes the standards development process. Major suppliers from around the world are currently developing and supporting this standard in their ISA wireless products.
