ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute Announces New ISA100.11a Product Certifications

Research Triangle Park, NC (19 October 2011) – The ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute (WCI) today announced certifications of two more ISA100.11a wireless devices as conducted for WCI by National Technical Systems, Inc. (NTS) (NASDAQ:NTSC).

ISA100.11a wireless devices that just recently completed certification include:

  • Honeywell
OneWireless Adapter (HART to ISA100.11a); Model OWA100
  • Yokogawa
    YTMX580 Multi-Input Temperature Transmitter

“The number of new additions to the portfolio of ISA100 based products is accelerating and submissions for formal ISA100.11a certification from a variety of vendors are closely following,” said Andre Ristaino, managing director of ISA100 WCI.

Last month, ISA announced that ISA100.11a-2011, “Wireless Systems for Industrial Automation: Process Control and Related Applications,” had been approved by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) as a publicly available specification, or PAS. This followed its approval earlier this year as an ISA standard, developed per ISA’s open consensus process as accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

About the ISA100
Standard The ISA100.11a industrial wireless sensor networking standard is the first in the ISA100 open family of standards, focusing on the needs of process industries. The ISA100 Wireless Compliant certification ensures that supplier companies deliver interoperable wireless products and provides users the freedom to choose best-ofbreed ISA100.11a field devices from any supplier. As a result, automation engineers are able to create, modify, optimize, and scale wireless networks quickly at user sites. With ISA100, customers have a solution that is open, interoperable, scalable and reliable for their most critical applications. ISA100 technology is simple to deploy, reliable, and supports traditional and future applications Planned additions to the ISA100 family of standards include support for backhaul functionality, factory automation, and other key-use cases. Details on the approved standard, the ISA100 roadmap, and use-case presentations are available at www.isa100wci.org.
