The ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute (ISA100 WCI) has announced today that Mimes, a company headquartered in Norway, has joined the ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute. Mimes specializes in the development of industrial internet of things (IIoT) technology dedicated to the acceleration of industrial safety innovations.
Mimes is a safety-enabler company, bridging the gap from wired to wireless safety applications. Mimes has designed and built the first SIL2 capable universal I/O for use with ISA100. This enables users of ISA100 to get their instrumentation or fire and gas signals directly into their system without the constraints for signal cables, cable trays, and spare I/O on their controllers. The product range is inputs and outputs combined with wireless triggering of sounder and beacons.
“The timing of our product seems to be ideal, and market response is overwhelmingly positive,” said Runar Mæland, Chief Executive Officer at Mimes.
“The addition of Mimes is a testament to the reliability and robustness of ISA100 Wireless,” said Andre Ristaino, Managing Director of ISA100 WCI. “We look forward to working with Mimes, a leader in the field of industrial safety.”
About the ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute
The ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute (ISA100 WCI) is a non-profit industry organization that provides users and developers with market awareness, educational information, technical support, and compliance testing for the ISA100 family of standards. ISA100 WCI provides real-world feedback from the deployment of ISA100 Wireless devices and systems to ISA Standards Committees, fostering rapid refinement to the standards. About Mimes
Mimes is founded by a group of industry experts with decades of experience from development within IEC 61508, technical safety, ex equipment, design, and certification. The knowledge and market information gave Mimes the know-how to fill an identified gap in the market with SIL2 wireless field I/O. This is the first product in a series of gap-closing products to further the adaptation of wireless safety based on ISA100.
About ISA100 Wireless
ISA100 Wireless (IEC 62734) is an international, industrial wireless networking and communications standard engineered to serve the needs of process industries. With native IPv6 networking and object architecture, ISA100 Wireless extends the IIOT to wireless. End users can select ISA100 Wireless Compliant devices from a best-of-breed pool of suppliers with assurances of device interoperability. ISA100 Wireless enables automation engineers to quickly create, modify, optimize, and scale wireless networks that are open, interoperable, and reliable for their most critical applications. ISA100 Wireless is the first standard in the ISA100 family of open standards.
Built from the ground up and driven by user requirements, the ISA100 Wireless standard received formal ANSI approval in January 2012 and approval as IEC 62734 in September 2014. ISA100 Wireless is the only IPv6, 6LowPAN industrial protocol designed for industrial automation. ISA100 Wireless meets requirements of ETSI EN 300 328 v1.8.1 for coexistence with nearby 2.4 GHz radio devices.
