Nivis Announces First Integrator Distribution Agreements

ATLANTA, Georgia - (October 22, 2013) – Nivis, a global leader in Smart Grid and Industrial Wireless networking, today announced new distribution agreements with Centero Technology and Control Data Systems, as part of its transition from a direct sales to an integrator-led distribution model. Nivis is the only company in the world with both ISA100.11a and WirelessHART stacks certified by their respective governing standards bodies, as well as a robust Smart Object product line for Internet of Things applications.

Under the new agreements, U.S.-based Centero will service customers in North and South America, Japan, Southeast Asia and China, while Romania-based Control Data Systems will cover customers in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. In addition to responsibility for all sales in their territories, the integrators will complement the Nivis product line with additional hardware, firmware, software engineering and support services aimed at integrating Nivis’s OEM modules and platform components into customers’ product lines.

“We are excited about signing up these two companies as the first Nivis distributors,” said Doug Johns, CEO of Nivis. “Both companies bring many years of experience and a wealth of knowledge within the field of industrial and Smart Grid wireless technology, including many employees who have worked at Nivis in the past.”

Earlier this year Nivis moved to an “open source” software distribution model, focusing its efforts on providing hardware and support service. Adopting a third party integrator distribution model enables Nivis to provide stronger, locally-based design, sales and support resources to help customers leverage Nivis technology in their applications.

Remarked Doug Johns, “Our move to open source on the software side and integrators on the sales/support side enables us to leverage the energies and capabilities of a much larger resource base to help propagate our technology. Independent integrators and software developers bring with them the application-specific and location-specific knowledge and contacts that it would be impossible to generate with a proprietary model. Wireless sensing and control technology adoption is blossoming globally, and as we add more integrators and developers to the Nivis fold, we can take better advantage of this trend.”
