ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute to Exhibit at Upcoming ISA Automation Week 2012
Don’t miss wireless technology panels featured throughout the week
Research Triangle Park, North Carolina (20 September 2012) – The ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute (WCI) will be showcasing its WCI certified products and growing membership base in Booth #757 at the upcoming ISA Automation 2012: Technology and Solutions Event, which will take place 24-27 September 2012, at the Orange County Convention Center, West Concourse, in Orlando, FL, USA.
Participating in a technical track and a the Solutions Provider Showcase, WCI will speak on important wireless topics including:
Technology Solutions Theatre Presentation:
Case Study: Adapting for ISA100 Wireless
26 September 2012, 4:00 p.m.–4:40 p.m.
Jay Werb, Technical Director, ISA100 WCI
The ISA100 wireless architecture provides a flexible framework that is designed to accommodate multiple legacy applications. This tutorial session will describe ISA100’s object-oriented application model, and then show how it has been adapted to integrate seamlessly with HART devices.
Technial Session Presentation:
Improving Wireless Throughout the Plant
27 September 2012, 9:30 a.m.–11:00 a.m.
Jay Werb, Technical Director, ISA100 WCI
Soroush Amidi, Global Manager Wireless Solutions, Honeywell Process Solutions
The goal of this presentation is to explain how systems based on the ISA100 standard can be used for control.
The presentation is comprised of three sections about control over wireless using the ISA-100.11a standard, from the ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute. Use cases, key technical requirements and a review of wireless network design considerations will be presented.
About the ISA100 Standard
The ISA-100.11a industrial wireless networking standard is the first in the ISA100 open family of standards, focusing on the needs of process industries. The ISA100 Wireless Compliant certification ensures that supplier companies deliver interoperable wireless products and provides users the freedom to choose best-of-breed ISA-100.11a devices from any supplier. As a result, automation engineers are able to create, modify, optimize and scale wireless networks quickly at user sites. With ISA100, customers have a solution that is open, interoperable, scalable and reliable for their most critical applications. ISA100 technology is simple to deploy, reliable, secure and supports traditional and future applications, including control. Built from the ground-up using open industry standards, ISA-100.11a includes native IPv6 addressing 6LoWPAN technology, AES-128 encryption, IEEE 802.15.4 radios, duocast transmission and object technology enabling control in the field.
ISA-100.11a-2011 received committee approval in 2011 and formal ANSI approval in January 2012. Headed towards internationalization in 2011, ISA-100.11a-2011 was accepted as new work in IEC SC65C and as a Publicly Available Specification (PAS) IEC 62734.
Planned additions to the ISA100 family of standards include support for backhaul functionality, factory automation, power management and other key-use cases. Details on the approved standard, the ISA100 roadmap, and use-case presentations are available at www.isa.org/ISA100.
